MEET
DEANNA DOHERTY, LCSW

In today’s world, it’s perfectly normal to feel anxiety, dread, and sadness. With the constant comparison on social media and the relentless stream of global tragedies at our fingertips, it’s no wonder that anxiety and depression rates are on the rise. While we can't change what’s beyond our control, therapy can empower you to harness your strengths and find joy in your life.

I’m committed to creating a warm, inviting therapeutic space where you can feel safe to explore your experiences. I blend compassion with a touch of humor when appropriate and provide direct guidance when needed. Together, we’ll dive into your past to understand how it shapes your present, helping you break the cycles of generational and family trauma. My goal is to support you in becoming your most authentic self—not just for your own well-being, but for the well-being of those you love.

I am a licensed psychotherapist in private practice providing individual psychotherapy to adults across the life span in the state of New York. I strive to be the therapist I desperately needed during my own experiences with grief and trauma.  I am a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist. I also practice Internal Family Systems Therapy, as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in my work. I received my Bachelors in Social Work from Sacred Heart University, and went on to receive my Masters in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University. Before opening my own practice I worked as a psychotherapist in private practice where I also was a Director of Clinical Trainings, training clinicians in the practice of EMDR and IFS. I also worked for Every Body Therapy based in NYC before opening my own practice. I have worked extensively with childhood trauma, grief, sexual addictions/substance use disorders, adopted children and their families, anxiety and perfectionism.

When life has given you reason to be fearful, it is normal to be waiting for the next shoe to drop. Together in our sessions we can work towards being excited about life, not being afraid of it anymore.
